In this article I will introduce another diet for weight loss: egg diet. It can lower your weight and cholesterol at the same time.

What is egg diet?

When you eat carbohydrates it will create glucose which is the main source of energy. If you have excess glucose, it will be converted to fat. When you don’t eat carbohydrate and your body needs energy, it will start taking fat and converting it back into glucose.

In this diet you must avoid high calorie food like sugars, soft drink and starches. You can replace it with food which contains high protein like meat and milk. Fruits and vegetables are also good for this diet. But you need to avoid fruit and vegetable with high calorie like potato and tomato. This diet is basically similar with Atkins diet where the focus is restricting carbohydrate intake. In egg diet you add eggs to the Atkins diet by eating two or more eggs daily. This diet uses eggs because they are allowed in unlimited quantities and are cheap. You can serve the egg as fried eggs, boiled eggs and omelet. Try boiled eggs for breakfast, fried eggs for lunch and omelet for dinner.

Is egg diet safe?

Many people think that eating too much egg every day will increase your cholesterol. This is not entirely true. You need both carbohydrate and saturated fat to produce cholesterol. Since you are not taking carbohydrates your cholesterol level won’t go up. Many studies have shown that low carbohydrate diets dramatically reduce triglyceride levels. High level of triglyceride will increase the risk of heart disease. If you eat more calories than you burn, you may have high triglycerides.

One problem with this diet is the resistance from your body. If you usually eat carbohydrate every day and become addicted with it, your body will react to non carbohydrate meal after a few meals. You can feel weak and sick when you start the diet. Some people will feel nausea and headache. This will usually last for a day or two. Your body just needs some time to adjust the new diet. It’s normal if you feel weak in the first day. You don’t have to worry much. One thing you need to remember is you should consult with your doctor first before starting the diet. He can give you information about your condition and whether you are ok to do the diet.

Another side effect is the low appetite. Sometimes you may find yourself wanting to skip meal. Don’t do it. It will only cause more problem than benefit. Skipping meal will reduce the nutrition you needed. You should eat three meals daily.

Egg diet is a crash diet. Rapid weight loss will occur. Before taking the diet you should consult with the doctor because this diet is an extreme one. If you have time to lose weight, then losing weight gradually is better. If you need to lose weight fast, do egg diet.
